Job Summary:
The Maintenance Manager directs and coordinates activities of workers engaged in repair, maintenance, and installation of machines, tools, and equipment, and in maintenance of buildings, grounds, and utility systems of mill, industrial plant, or other establishments by performing the following duties personally or through subordinate supervisors;
Key Responsibilities:
• Reviews job orders to determine work priorities.
• Schedules repair, maintenance, and installation of machines, tools, and equipment to ensure continuous
production operations.
• Coordinates activities of workers fabricating or modifying machines, tools, or equipment to manufacture
new products or improve existing products.
• Directs maintenance activities on utility systems to provide continuous supply of heat, steam, electric
power, gas, or air required for operations.
• Develops preventive maintenance program in conjunction with engineering and maintenance staff.
• Reviews production, quality control, and maintenance reports and statistics to plan and modify
maintenance activities.
• Inspects operating machines and equipment for conformance with operational standards.
• Plans, develops, and implements new methods and procedures designed to improve operations, minimize
operating costs, and effect greater utilization of labor and materials.
• Reviews new product plans and discusses equipment needs and modifications with design engineers.
• Requisitions tools, equipment, and supplies required for operation.
• Directs training and indoctrination of workers to improve work performance and acquaint workers with
company policies and procedures.
• Confers with management, engineering, and quality control personnel to resolve maintenance problems
and recommend measures to improve operations and conditions of machines and equipment.
• May assist in preparation of department budget and monitoring expenditure of funds in budget.
Additional Responsibilities:
• May maintain records and other relevant documents pertaining to equipment and supplies.
• Acquires knowledge of Trident’s Environmental and Safety Policies by completing required training
programs and performing designated work activities in accordance with training and procedures/work
instructions
• Notifies designated personnel of any environmental or safety incidents or risks not previously
documented, in accordance with Environmental Awareness and/or safety trainings
• Performs other similar or related duties as requested or assigned.
Minimum Requirements:
• Minimum five years food manufacturing maintenance experience, preferably in the seafood industry.
• Two years’ experience supervising others required.
• Must have a proven success record working within time restrictions.
Education:
One year certificate from college or technical school; or three to six months related work experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Special Training/Skills:
• Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical
procedures, or governmental regulations.
• Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
• Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients,
customers, and the general public.
• Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions,
percentages, area, circumference, and volume.
• Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
• To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of email, spreadsheet software,
word processing software and presentation software.
• Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
• Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal
with several abstract and concrete variables.
Work Environment:
• While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to;
• Wet and/or humid conditions and moving mechanical parts
• Outside weather conditions
• High, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; toxic or caustic chemicals; extreme cold; risk of
electrical shock and vibration.
• The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
Physical Demands:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to;
• Stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms and talk or hear.
• The employee is frequently required to climb or balance.
• The employee is occasionally required to sit and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
• The employee must regularly lift and /or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25
pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
• Specific vision abilities required by this job include distance vision, color vision and depth perception.
Mental Activities:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to;
• Use decision making skills, creativity, independent judgment, discretion, and problem analysis.
• Occasionally use interpersonal skills and team work.
• Regularly speak and read English
